Padres P Bell named to All-Star team

07/07/2010 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - San Diego Padres closer Heath Bell has been named to the National League All-Star team as a replacement for injured Milwaukee starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo.

Bell was the choice of manager Charlie Manuel since Gallardo was also selected to the team by the Philadelphia Phillies' skipper.

The 32-year-old Bell is 4-0 with 23 saves and a 1.72 earned run average this season and will be making his second straight appearance on the NL roster for the Mid-Summer Classic.

With his selection to the team, Bell will no longer be one of five NL candidates for the Final Vote on MLB.com that allows fans to choose the final All-Star representative for each league.
